I met Tara and Jordan for the first time on Wednesday for their engagement session. They flew in from Arizona and are getting married this Saturday! The really great thing about engagement sessions is that it is a great way to get to know each other before the big day. I always leave feeling like I've made new friends. :-)
I spoke with Tara on the phone last week just to firm up the details. She and Jordan are photography enthusiasts and mentioned to me that she liked photos that incorporate all the elements that surround them as a couple...environment, composition, etc. A woman after my own heart! She and Jordan were fantastic to work with and so very very nice.
Huntington Beach is overflowing with wonderful opportunities of that sort. Listed below are just a few of the many great photos that resulted from the engagement session...(click on pictures to see the larger version.)
A pedestrian tunnel that wasn't very clean and didn't smell very good, but interesting nonetheless! :-)
When we walked to this part of the beach, I said, "wouldn't it be great if we could get those seagulls to fly behind the two of you? Tara tried her hardest, but these seagulls were jaded. This was as flighty as they would get and then they plopped themselves right back down.
Thank you random beach person who left playing cards in the sand. They truly are the king and queen of hearts :-)
A little black and white....
Normally I don't post two of the same picture, but I am truly torn on which one I liked better for this blog. There's this tree on the beach that I knew would hug the frame - I had Tara and Jordan stand so that we could see downtown Cleveland in the background. When I saw this...I loved it. The light was just right and the photo just pops. I wondered....how would it look in vintage? A completely different look...and completely gorgeous.
They were still under the tree in this picture, but I wanted to get in bit closer to Tara and Jordan so I cropped it down to create an additional photo with a different perspective, showing just a hint of downtown Cleveland in the background. The effect is a blend of vintage and 70's film.
This was as breathtaking "live" as it is on "print" and can only be truly appreciated in a larger size. Click on any of the pictures in this blog to see the larger versions.
And finally...the "almost kiss." I can only describe this last picture as photo poetry.

My favorite out of them all is the black and white collage you made!
