Welcome to my Magical Fairy Garden Wonderland

My fairyland adventure began this spring when we cleared out some trees from my back yard and I built a vegetable garden.  As is always the case with me, I added onto the vegetable garden with a perennial and herb garden.  It needed something -- something special -- to entice my (almost) 4-year old granddaughter, Ava Belle, to join me and discover the love of gardening and digging in the dirt.  I edged off my garden with this little fairy wonderland.

This wonderland belongs to Ava Belle.  She helped me paint the log cabin and the one of the other fairy houses, as well as the fence. She was a little too young to help with the foundation.  To be honest, I thoroughly enjoyed that process -- standing back and staring at empty space until inspiration struck.    As time passes, and throughout the winter, we will continue create and add magical rock creatures and mushrooms and other Ava-made fantasy pieces to her wonderland.   I'm looking forward to having special craft days to make things specifically for her garden and in my mind's eye, I see her running excitedly to her garden to put it there.   It's been a labor of love and I hope that Ava Belle enjoys process, uses her imagination, creates magic, and someday fondly remembers how she and her Meemaw spent time together creating it.

Come walk with me -- I'll take you on a tour.

Upon arriving, you will notice this shy fairy hiding behind a bush.  Just believe, and you will see the rest of her magical fairyland.

Sitting at the firepit, this fairy cannot contain her joy while her sleeping kitten occupies the other chair.

A closer look at happiness.  Brings a smile to your face, doesn't it?

Just to her left is a little watering hole with more fairies enjoying the cool blue water on this hot summer day.

Close up of this fairy - if you take a look to the right of the photo, you'll see that a fly is also enjoying the warmth of the summertime sunshine!

Happiness does bloom in a loving heart.  The lavender is displayed beautifully in this fairy planter.

Should she jump????  She looks a little nervous!

If we continue walking we come across the homestead of this lovely fairy.  My does her garden grow.  In fairyland, anything is possible -- even a yard full of blossoms!

Looking back, you can see the watering hole that we left behind.

Fairy dresses need TLC and summer breezes to look extra pretty on our lovely fairies!

Do small things with great love -- this little fairy does love her puppy and her garden!

Continuing on our journey we cross the bridge to our next section of fairyland.

The first thing we see is the garden - it looks like we have vegetables ready to harvest!

Oh my goodness!  Little kitty was stuck behind the fence!  It's a good thing fairy was there to help her get out!

After a hard day's work, these fairies are ready to rest at home.

Miracles do happen!  As we walk on, we pass this sweet little thing getting ready for her afternoon tea.  Yarrow flowers are delightful in the planter, and placed just underneath the birdhouse so that the birds, too, can enjoy their lovely fragrance!

We are approaching the end of our journey but not before we come upon a tower of great wonder!  Climb the ladder of vines (guarded by a troll, of course) and you reach this lovely garden setting.

Well, hello, Mr. Troll!  I'd love to visit the fairies at the top of the ladder-of-vines!  Secret word?  I need to know a secret password?  Why, it's "LOVE" of course!  Enjoy your life, Mr. Troll - I'm on my way up the ladder!

Oh my, so well worth the climb!  It's so beautiful and serene up here!

Why yes, my fairy friend, I will spend a few moments chatting with you.

I'll sit right here, next to the vase filled with oregano blossoms.  Your pretty blue fairy friend will join us, I hope?

Believe and you will journey with me another day into my fairy wonderland.

When I was researching fairy gardens, I got a lot of inspiration from The Magic Onions.  Wow, what a site!  Check it out, there are soooooo many cute fairy gardens to see!  I also entered their 2014 Fairy Garden Contest - click on the link below to see all the entries and get some inspiration to start your own fairy garden!
